With these words written 200 years ago by Sir Walter Scott and made even more famous by one of the penguin’s heroes, the Tasmanian-born Vietnam war photojournalist Neil Davis, Prevelly’s favourite son, Patrick Thompson arrived beachside in Taree.
A small crowd of people gathered at the Old Bar beach to witness Patrick pour a bottle of water he has carried from Prevelly beach into the Tasman Ocean.
There were some very special friends to meet him at the beach including his two great nieces, Olivia and Hannah Lewis, Taree school girls, who along with their class have been great supporters of Patrick’s fund raising journey. That’s them at right with Patrick and Percy. Many thanks to the Manning River Times for the picture.
