SO, you think you can dance? Hundreds of Perth families are being sought to converge on Forrest Place to perform a choreographed dance for the Children’s Leukaemia and Cancer Research Foundation (CLCRF).
Registration has opened for the fourth annual Dance for a Cure event, which will be directed by Lauchlan Bain, a Perth choreographer, who is working on the moves to this year’s song, Better When I’m Dancing by Meghan Trainor.
On Wednesday 3 August, to launch registrations for Dance for A Cure 2016, a group of very enthusiastic and passionate dance students got together to do a train flash mob for Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation. With the help of dancers from the Beverley Margaret School of Dance we were able to create our very first live Facebook event for the CLCRF. It was also filmed and sent to Channel 9 for the news later that evening.
In less than 24 hours we have had nearly 21,000 people reached. It is clear that this year will be a wonderful year for Dance for A Cure and we thank everyone involved for this support. Register Now to Dance for A Cure on 30 October 2016 by heading to www.danceforacure.com.au
To promote Dance for A Cure for 2015, we headed to Forrest Place in the City of Perth to have a live intimate chat with Lisa Fernandez, from Channel 9 Perth. We had some wonderful volunteers who met us in the city, from all across Perth (including Mandurah!) early in the morning to dance on live TV! It was a great way to share the excitement of the upcoming event on 8 November and we received lots of new registrations in the days following. READ MORE
This year’s event will be opened by the recently appointed CLCRF ambassador the Right Honourable Lord Mayor Lisa M. Scaffidi and the event will raise much-needed funds for the CLCRF to continue their valued research into childhood cancer. We strongly encourage you to register to be a part of this great event via the Dance for A Cure website and follow the steps below to select your t-shirt size and sign up!
Lauchlan Bain, an independent Perth choreographer, has taken on the challenge of choreographing the 2015 event, creating all of the dance moves for the general public. This year we are lucky enough to be dancing to Geronimo by Australian band, Sheppard, who are very supportive of this event and have licenced the song to CLCRF for this special occasion. A filmed version of the choreography can be found on the Dance for A Cure website for you to learn before the big day. Find out more…
