An Aussie Day BBQ Fundraiser!
There’s nothing like a good old-fashioned BBQ to catch up with friends, have some fun and enjoy great food. Sue and Owen Breasley have taken this one step further by also using it as a way to make a real difference in the community.
For the past 5 years, Sue and Owen have hosted an Australia Day BBQ Fundraiser at their home, where their friends come together to raise money for an important cause. This year, we are so grateful for their decision to support our Foundation!
“Everybody had a say in what cause to support,” said Sue. “We all wanted to donate to a cause that helps children, so we decided to support the important work being done at the Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation.”
We are thrilled to announce that a total of $2,050 was raised for CLCRF! This is an incredible achievement and $500 more than what they were able to raise at their BBQ last year.
To raise the funds, guests were encouraged to bring something to put towards a raffle prize. They could then purchase raffle tickets for their chance to win what was on offer. Guests were also asked to bring an item of more value to be auctioned off on the day. “We’ve only started doing the auction in recent years and it is a lot of fun!” Sue expressed.
A big thank you to Sue and Owen for organising this wonderful event which has helped raise vital funds for childhood cancer research. We also thank all of their friends and family that joined them in supporting the Foundation on the day.
We love hearing about these wonderful fundraising events happening in the community! Community support is so important for us to continue funding the ground-breaking research into childhood cancers, so that future generations can live cancer-free.
