Registration opens for fourth annual Dance for a Cure at Forrest Place

SO, you think you can dance? Hundreds of Perth families are being sought to converge on Forrest Place to perform a choreographed dance for the Children’s Leukaemia and Cancer Research Foundation (CLCRF).

Registration has opened for the fourth annual Dance for a Cure event, which will be directed by Lauchlan Bain, a Perth choreographer, who is working on the moves to this year’s song, Better When I’m Dancing by Meghan Trainor.

Dance for A Cure will be supported by performances from Perth Modern, John Curtin College of the Arts and Belridge Secondary College. A filmed version of the general public dance choreography can be found on the Dance for a Cure website. There will be two rehearsal days — on Sunday October 16 and Sunday October 23, when dancers can collect their Dance for a Cure T-shirt ahead of the event on Sunday, October 30 at 10.30am.

Australian cricketer and Perth Scorchers coach Justin Langer, patron for the CLCRF said the event was a fun way to raise awareness and funds for research into childhood cancer.

“While my daughters keep reminding me that I am not a great dancer myself, I really love seeing everybody else getting out there for the kids and dancing to find a cure,’’ he said. “Maybe one day I’ll dance, for the right donation of course but until then, keep dancing, it means a lot to a great deal of people!”
