Thank you, Trinity Lutheran College

The Foundation recently received a very generous gift of $551 from Trinity Lutheran College in Queensland. These funds were raised by some wonderful Year 6 students through the school’s café.

In their Humanities classes, the students have been learning about business and trade. As part of the unit, they studied ethical business, marketing, and the way in which businesses can choose to use their money ethically.

The students also learnt about how words and colours can be used in marketing to influence a buyer, and they put this theory into practice when they were given a product to advertise in the school’s café. The main goal was for the students to raise as much money as they could for charity.

“The students were so excited that their work would be able to help other people in need,” said teacher Mrs Tina Croll.

The students raised money for several different charities and we are so thrilled to have seen such an incredible amount donated towards CLCRF. With these funds, these students are helping us in our commitment to ensure future generations can live cancer-free.

Thank you to all the students and teachers who helped raise funds for the Foundation through this wonderful initiative!

Over $35,000 raised from the 2020 South West Bike Trek!

From October 11 to 17, the 18th annual South West Bike Trek took place, organised once again by long-time CLCRF supporter Eric Maddock. The event saw 15 enthusiastic riders embarking on the 600km journey from Perth to Augusta to raise funds for childhood cancer research.

We are so thrilled to announce that over $35,000 was raised for the Foundation this year! This is an incredible achievement, considering the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic and the reduced peloton of 15.

Throughout the month of October, CLCRF was selected to participate in Grill’d Subiaco’s Local Matters initiative. The Foundation went up against two other charities in a bid to receive the most tokens in their respective jars by the end of the month. The jar with the most tokens would then receive a $300 donation.

We are so excited to announce that CLCRF’s jar came first!

Tokens are given out to customers with every burger purchase, so we would like to thank every single customer who used their token to support the Foundation. Your consideration has helped us raise vital funds for childhood cancer research.

Thank you to Grill’d for selecting us to participate in this wonderful initiative. The Local Matters program is a great way for the restaurant to give back and help strengthen communities. We are hopeful for the chance to participate again in the future!

Thank you Plus Fitness, Currambine!

During the month of October, Plus Fitness Currambine implemented a wonderful initiative to help raise funds for childhood cancer research. From October 1 to 31, the proceeds of all membership access card sales were donated to the Foundation.

We are thrilled to announce that a total of $500 was raised! We would like to thank Paul Butterfield, the club manager of Plus Fitness Currambine, for implementing this great idea and for thinking of CLCRF.

“I walked into Currambine Shopping Centre and there was a lovely lady promoting your organisation,” said Paul. “I believe everything happens for a reason, so it can’t be a coincidence that the very day I was looking for a charity I walked in and came across CLCRF. It just felt right.”

“I am a father and I have sadly lost some of my family members to cancer. So, supporting the Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation seemed appropriate.”

We would like to thank Paul, Plus Fitness Currambine and all of the people who signed up to become a member and purchase an access card during the month of October. There really was no better reason to get fit and active!

By joining Plus Fitness, you can use any of their gyms with no lock in contracts and 24-hour access. We recommend visiting Paul and the team at Plus Fitness Currambine for your workouts! Head to their website for more information.

A wild donation for our Quiz Night!

In the lead up to our annual Keep the Flame Alive Quiz Nights, our volunteers are always working hard to source the best donations to use as a way to raise funds for childhood cancer research. This year, Tina Chong from Wild Cards & Gifts at Westfield Carousel helped make their job very easy!

Tina kindly donated a few trolleys full of goodies from her store to help us out. These goodies included door stops, named trucks, clutch bags, personalised pens in tins, mugs, light up bottles, plaques and much more. Altogether, this donation came to the incredible retail price of $3,470!

We would like to thank Tina for being so generous, especially during such an uncertain year. Tina cares deeply about giving to charity and said she really wants to help us make a difference.

“I like to give to charity,” said Tina. “So, I’m happy to help where I can.”

As a lot of these products were personalised gifts, Tina was happy for us to auction off some of the named items prior to the Quiz Night as a way to raise funds for the Foundation.

We encourage you all to visit Tina at Wild Cards & Gifts at Westfield Carousel. The store offers wonderful gift ideas, a hassle-free shopping experience and friendly service. It’s the perfect place to start your Christmas shopping! You can find the store on level 1 of Westfield Carousel, next to Senso Espresso.
