Donations

A wild donation for our Quiz Night!

In the lead up to our annual Keep the Flame Alive Quiz Nights, our volunteers are always working hard to source the best donations to use as a way to raise funds for childhood cancer research. This year, Tina Chong from Wild Cards & Gifts at Westfield Carousel helped make their job very easy!

Tina kindly donated a few trolleys full of goodies from her store to help us out. These goodies included door stops, named trucks, clutch bags, personalised pens in tins, mugs, light up bottles, plaques and much more. Altogether, this donation came to the incredible retail price of $3,470!

We would like to thank Tina for being so generous, especially during such an uncertain year. Tina cares deeply about giving to charity and said she really wants to help us make a difference.

“I like to give to charity,” said Tina. “So, I’m happy to help where I can.”

As a lot of these products were personalised gifts, Tina was happy for us to auction off some of the named items prior to the Quiz Night as a way to raise funds for the Foundation.

We encourage you all to visit Tina at Wild Cards & Gifts at Westfield Carousel. The store offers wonderful gift ideas, a hassle-free shopping experience and friendly service. It’s the perfect place to start your Christmas shopping! You can find the store on level 1 of Westfield Carousel, next to Senso Espresso.

Jon Wannberg makes his birthday count

For his birthday this year, long-time supporter of CLCRF, Jon Wannberg, is once again asking his family and friends for one of the most meaningful gifts of all – a donation towards childhood cancer research.

Jon has set up his own birthday fundraiser on Facebook, allowing people to conveniently and securely make a donation through the social media platform.

“I’ve chosen this cause in memory of my son, Ricky,” said Jon. “And I hope you’ll consider this as a way to celebrate his memory with me.”

Jon sadly lost Ricky to a brain tumour in 1996 when he was just 5 years old. Since then, he has actively raised funds and awareness for childhood cancer research. He and two other families formed the “3 Boys Legacy” (3BL) research foundation in 1998, in memory of Ricky and 2 of Ricky’s friends who lost their battle with the same type of cancer.

3BL’s past fundraising efforts have included art exhibitions and fun runs. Jon also came up with the Februhairy Fun Razor, where he asked men to grow a beard throughout February and shave it off at the end of the month to raise money.

For his birthday fundraiser this year, Jon’s goal was to reach a total of $300. In just 6 days, his friends and family have helped him smash that goal, raising $475 and counting!

“Every little bit will help towards preventing other children having to endure what Ricky did or at least improve the likelihood of survival and quality of life,” said Jon.

We are so appreciative for Jon’s generosity and ongoing support. This is the second year that he has decided to create a fundraiser for his birthday. If you would like to help Jon celebrate his birthday while helping to make a difference, you can donate to his birthday fundraiser today!

Have a birthday coming up? Consider creating your own fundraiser on Facebook! Facebook not only offers an easily accessible and uncomplicated way to fundraise, but you can also rest assured knowing all donations are safe and secure. There are also no fees involved, meaning 100% of the funds are distributed to the charity you have selected.

All you need to do is click the “create” button on the top of your Facebook page, then select the “Fundraiser” option. When asked what charity you want to donate to, simply search for “Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation” and you will see our acc

Leave a meaningful Gift in Will for future generations

We understand and respect that family comes first when it comes to considering your Will, but it is also a great opportunity to make a lasting impact.

By including a gift to the Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation (CLCRF) in your Will, you can help us ensure the ground-breaking research into childhood cancer can continue for many years to come, bringing hope to all children battling the gruelling disease.

Anyone can leave a Gift in Will, however large or small, and it is a relatively quick and easy process. You can leave money, property or a percentage of your estate after your death; and with it your stamp on the future.

Making a Gift in Will allows you to support your favourite cause, or causes, beyond your lifetime and it ensures that there is a legal document outlining your wishes. This should give you the peace of mind that you are not only planning ahead for those you care for, but you will also be generously helping an important cause in the future.

As the Foundation does not receive State or Federal funding, we rely on the generous support of the community to help us in our commitment to see future generations live cancer free.

For further information or to advise us that you have included Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation in your Will – in the strictest confidence – please contact us on 9363 7400 or email [email protected].

Boar Swamp Campdraft Raises over $7000 for Childhood Cancer Research!

The Boar Swamp Campdraft took place last month, from November 22 to November 24. The popular event was held at the McLarty family’s Blythewood farm near Pinjarra, with funds raised going towards CLCRF.

Campdrafting is a uniquely Australian sport that dates back to the late 1800s and involves a horse and a rider working cattle for the coveted title of the best stockhorse and rider.

The Boar Swamp Campdraft Club have been supporting the Foundation for a number of years now and we couldn’t be more grateful for their wonderful efforts!

This year, not only did the club pledge $3500 for the Foundation, but campdrafter Jacob Walmsley also kindly offered his face to raise extra funds. Thanks to the wonderful generosity of the crowd, Jacob was able to raise an additional $4349.35 and is now sporting a bad mullet, no eyebrows, half a beard and a bald crown.

That’s an incredible total of $7,849.35 going towards childhood cancer research!

We would like to congratulate the organisers on another successful campdraft event, as well as all of the competitors and winners. We sincerely appreciate the Boar Swamp Campdraft Club’s ongoing support and contribution to our cause. We look forward to continuing this relationship well into the future!

Help us make a difference this Giving Tuesday!

Giving Tuesday is a global movement that started in 2012 as a way to bring people together to give back to organisations that are making a difference in the community. This year, Giving Tuesday will take place on December 3 and we encourage everyone to help us celebrate through a 24-hour fundraising challenge!

On the day, we ask all of our supporters to consider making a donation to CLCRF, to help us achieve a fundraising goal of $2,000 and prove what a difference a day can make.

So, mark Tuesday 3 December on your calendar and spread the word to your family and friends to come together for a good cause. Every donation counts, no matter how big or small!

A donation to CLCRF can help to make a difference in the lives of children who face a cancer diagnosis, with funds going towards finding better treatments that are more effective and less invasive.

You can make a donation towards CLCRF through our online donation form. Can’t wait for Giving Tuesday? Make your donation today and include Giving Tuesday in the comments so we know what inspired you to donate!

Giving Tuesday can be the perfect opportunity for you to make the most of our CLCRF Christmas bauble offer. Simply make a donation online, mention in the comments that you would like to turn it into a bauble and we will send it to you, along with your receipt, to give as a gift or hang on your Christmas tree!

Samantha turns 21!

Yesterday, on November 26, we wished a very happy 21st birthday to Samantha McLaurin, a special girl from Kingsley who had a rough start to life. When she was just 5 months old, Samantha was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma and her parents were unsure if this milestone would ever come.

“We didn’t know if she would even make her 1st birthday,” said Samantha’s mum Dianne. “So it’s a bit of hope for all those parents going through this nightmare as our thoughts are constantly with them.”

Dianne recalls a memory with Samantha’s paediatric surgeon that she will always remember, especially now. Dr Ian Gollow, who has now retired, said to Dianne after she questioned Samantha’s post-surgery scar “If all she has is this scar and turns 21, we’ll take that.”

“And that time has come!” Expressed Dianne. “I’ll never forget that and would love to let him see her all grown up.”

“We are so thankful to everyone involved in saving her life 20 years ago.”

Samantha is doing extremely well and currently works in the West Coast Eagles media department. Like her parents, we hope Samantha’s story will bring hope and support to those families who are currently fighting their own battles with childhood cancer.

There is always hope! By continuing to fund the important research at CLCRF, we can help to ensure that more families are greeted with the same positive outcomes as Samantha and her family. Make a donation today!

Decorate your Christmas Tree with a Donation Bauble!

Not sure what to get your loved ones for Christmas? Or maybe you want to do something a little more meaningful this year? Simply make a donation to CLCRF during Christmas-time and we will send you a special little bauble to give as a gift or hang on your tree!

All you need to do is make a donation online and mention in the comments that you would like to turn your donation into a bauble. We will then send it to you along with your receipt – it really is that easy!

This idea comes from last year’s Christmas Appeal with Karalee on Preston where we took the humble Christmas ornament to the next level in a unique incentive for patrons to donate. Visitors to Karalee on Preston had the opportunity to purchase a bauble over the bar for any donation amount they chose and place it on the pub’s beautiful tree.

We are so excited to announce that we will be collaborating with Karalee on Preston again this year, with their Christmas tree set to go up this week! So head on down to the award-winning pub, try their delicious food, grab yourself a drink and help decorate their Christmas tree with a donation!

At CLCRF, our goal is to continue to raise funds for childhood cancer research in order to find more effective treatments for young children so they can enjoy a better quality of life and be reunited with their families sooner. By helping to fund this important research, a CLCRF bauble makes for a truly special Christmas gift.

Donate online and request your bauble today.

Give a Donation for Christmas!

Christmas is almost here and it’s time to start thinking about what to give your loved ones. Not sure what to get someone who has everything or maybe you want to give something meaningful instead of participating in the over-the-top consumerism of the holidays? Why not give a donation gift card in lieu of gifts?

Thanks to MyCause, it has never been easier to create and give a charity donation gift card! The website allows you to choose from a variety of designs suitable for all occasions, including birthdays, holidays and Christmas. If you’re feeling extra creative or want to add a personal touch, you can also upload your own card image. The cards can then be customised with text and either emailed or printed at home.

If you are a company looking to give the gift of a donation to your employees or clients, you can even add your company logo and send a gift card to your entire contact list at once.

Giving a gift of a donation to CLCRF is a fantastic idea for a number of reasons. Not only is it quick and easy, but it will also help fund vital research into childhood cancer and make the recipient feel good about themselves.

How to create a donation gift card:

  1. Head to the MyCause Gift Card creation page.
  2. Choose your template and customise your card with text and an optional company logo.
  3. Choose “Donation Gift Card” as your gift card type and search for “Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Research Foundation.”
  4. Input the donation amount, the name to be shown in the email “from” field, and whether or not you would like to make the donation in honour of a particular person.
  5. Select whether you want to print the gift card at home or send it by email.
  6. Go to the checkout and complete your purchase!

RAC Donates Old Mobile Phones

The Foundation recently received a wonderful donation of old mobile phones from Patrick from the RAC Head Office in West Perth. For a few years now, Patrick has been collecting old mobile phones in-house and donating them to CLCRF in order to help raise funds for childhood cancer research.

CLCRF Executive Assistant Katelyn met with Patrick last week to collect his donation and thank him for his generous efforts. Patrick now aims to expand his mobile phone collection to include other RAC offices around Perth.

This is a fantastic initiative by Patrick! Not only is he helping supporting childhood cancer research, but he is also being environmentally responsible. Thanks to the Aussie Recycling Program, these recycled phones are either refurbished or sent for material recycling, where materials can be recovered and put back into productive use.

In exchange for these old mobile phones, the Aussie Recycling Program donates funds to the Foundation, an initiative we look forward to continuing well into the future.

If you are interested in donating your old mobile phone and helping fund important research into childhood cancer, please contact our office on 08 9363 7400.

Making a Difference with Beyond Bank

We are so thrilled to have received a generous donation of $3,236, thanks to Beyond Bank and their Community Reward Program. This program is a unique way for CLCRF supporters to contribute to childhood cancer research just by having a savings account with Beyond Bank.

We would like to thank Beyond Bank and their wonderful customers who have chosen CLCRF as their charity of choice with their Community Reward Account. This type of community support is so important for the Foundation to continue the important research into childhood cancer, to ensure future generations can live cancer free.

The Community Reward Account allows supporters to save their money and in return CLCRF receive a Community Reward Payment, based on the combined average annual balances of all supporter’s savings. Basically, the more you save, the more Beyond Bank will donate.
