It takes as little as 20 minutes to complete, is reviewed by their affiliate law firm, Safewill Legal, and comes with a year of free and unlimited updates.

Even leaving just 1% of your estate will help make a real difference for children with cancer and their families. If you’re not in a position to leave a charitable gift in your Will, don’t worry – you can still write a Will for free this week!

Go Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to shine a spotlight on the gruelling disease and the need to improve diagnosis, treatment and outcomes.

More children die from cancer than any other disease in Australia. While medical advancements have improved survival rates, there is still much work to be done. Research is crucial to finding better treatments, reducing side effects, and ultimately, finding a cure.

Here are some ways you can help raise awareness and support childhood cancer research:

Wear Gold
Gold symbolises childhood cancer awareness. Throughout September, wear gold ribbons, clothing, or accessories to show your support and start conversations about the cause. You can purchase gold ribbons from our office at 3/100 Hay Street, Subiaco WA 6008. A ribbon can be purchased with a gold coin donation towards our cause.

Include Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in your work or school newsletter
If your workplace sends out regular newsletters, we would love it if you considered including an article about Childhood Cancer Awareness Month this September. We are more than happy to help write this for you! Simply contact our team by calling  (08) 9363 7400 or by emailing [email protected]

Share posts about Childhood Cancer Awareness Month on your social media
Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram, where we will be sharing relevant information about childhood cancer all throughout September and beyond. You can help us get the message out by sharing our posts to your friends and family.

Create your own fundraising event
Why don’t you host your own fundraising event this September? Some potential fundraising ideas include a morning tea at your workplace, a quiz night, sausage sizzle or a high tea. Please contact us with your fundraising ideas so we can help you in any way we can! Simply send an email to [email protected] or call our office on (08) 9363 7400.

Share stories
One of the most powerful ways to raise awareness is by sharing stories of brave children and their families. Sharing your own story about your experience with childhood cancer can help in many ways. Not only will it help educate people not affected by childhood cancer, it will also help other families know that they are not alone.

If you decide to share your story on social media, we would love to see it! Make sure you tag our Facebook page (@childcanceresearch).

We hope you will consider helping us raise awareness for childhood cancer research during the month of September. Your support is so vital for us to continue our important work, to ensure more children can go on to live the lives they deserve.

When we come together as a community, we can make a significant impact in the fight against childhood cancer. Let’s spread awareness, support affected families, and strive towards a future where children can live cancer-free.

Thank You to Lotterywest for Funding our Family Night Out

We are excited to extend our gratitude to Lotterywest for their invaluable support in making our upcoming Family Night Out Concert a reality. Dr Katrina Stratton MLA recently visited our office and presented us with a very generous cheque of $11,000, igniting the anticipation for an incredible evening of music and nostalgia.

Thanks to the funding provided by Lotterywest, we are ready to bring an evening of joy and entertainment to the local community, with the biggest 80s dance party the Peel Region has ever seen.

Get ready to embark on a nostalgic journey as we revisit the greatest hits from the biggest blockbusters of the 80s, performed by The VHS Pirates. This one-of-a-kind event promises to be a feast for the ears and eyes, combining classic 80s tunes with the ultimate flashbacks on screen.

The Family Night Out will be more than just a musical extravaganza; it represents the unity and resilience that define our community. It’s an opportunity for us to come together and celebrate. The concert also wraps up our Cycle for a Cure event, the bike ride going the distance for children with cancer.

We are so grateful for Lotterywest’s unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families within our community. Their generous contribution has not only provided the means to organise this event, but it has also inspired us to continue our mission of bringing people together to make a real difference.

If you are interested in going on a musical journey through the most iconic hits of the 80s, tickets for our Family Night Out are now on sale! This is set to be an evening for the whole family to enjoy, with fun family activities and food trucks also available.

Keep the Flame Alive Quiz Night Raises over $40,000 for Child Cancer Research

The Child Cancer Research Foundation’s annual Keep the Flame Alive Quiz Night exceeded all expectations on Saturday 22 July 2023, raising a remarkable $42,381.05 for childhood cancer research.

The event, made possible by the unwavering dedication of our incredible volunteers and generous supporters, brought together an enthusiastic crowd to Ascot Racecourse, all eager to make a difference in the lives of children battling a cancer diagnosis.

A heartfelt appreciation goes out to our volunteers who selflessly dedicated their time and efforts to make the Quiz Night a resounding success. Their hard work and passion behind the scenes truly made a difference in raising awareness and funds for childhood cancer research.

This year, our commitment to sustainability and environmental friendliness shone brightly. We made the conscious decision to avoid the use of plastic wrapping for our hampers and opted for a digital silent auction to minimise paper consumption.

Our online silent auction was an exciting new twist for our Quiz Night, offering our supporters the chance to bid on items before the event, whether they were attending on the night or not. Facilitating our online silent auction was the Helping Hand Group who also sourced some of the exciting auction items that were on offer, including a guitar signed by Ed Sheeran and a football boot signed by Cristiano Ronaldo.

We were once again in awe of the amount of incredible Australian businesses who kindly donated products for us to use as auction items and prizes on the night. We would not have been able to reach such an incredible result without their generosity. A big thank you to everyone who donated.

Finally, we thank every single person who came to the Quiz Night and generously contributed to our cause. The funds raised will provide hope to families facing childhood cancer and empower researchers to make ground-breaking discoveries for future generations.

As we celebrate this remarkable achievement, let us continue to keep the flame alive and support initiatives that aim to eradicate childhood cancer once and for all.

Perth Tradie Expo raises $5,784 for CCRF

It was great to be back at the Perth Tradie Expo over the weekend of 16 to 18 June. We were greeted to much dryer weather than previous years and raised an incredible total of $5,784.20 for childhood cancer research.

At the Perth Tradie Expo, attendees were able to purchase all types of work equipment from power tools to excavators at special Expo prices. There wasn’t just great savings on work gear, but also amazing specials on vehicles, camper-trailers, accessories, machinery and much, much more.

We were thrilled to be invited back to the Expo, collecting donations alongside the Desperate for Love Dog Pound Rescue. Our incredible fundraising result would not have been possible without our amazing volunteers who generously donated their time to collect the gold coin donations at the entry gate. A big thank you to Catherine, Angus, Jacky, Caroline, Tony, Tegan, Sophie, Andrea, and Calum!

We would also like to thank every single person who attended the Expo and decided to put their gold coin donation in our tins! We were touched to see so many people donating notes and making larger donations by card. Your contribution will go a long way to help future generations of children live cancer-free.

Finally, we thank Toolmart. This is always such an exciting weekend for our volunteers and staff, and we are so grateful for the great opportunity to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer research.
