The HBF Run for a Reason, presented by The West Australian, is one of the fastest growing events on the WA sporting calendar. The inaugural event saw 10,000 people take part, raising $255,000 for health-related charities. Since then the event has tripled in size, with almost 30,000 people taking part in the 2013 HBF Run for a Reason, raising over $1.3 million for charity. In 2015, over 31,000 people walked, jogged or ran their way through Perth on Sunday, 24 May 2015 and the sea of blue through the streets was spectacular.
The event comprises the Ramsay Health Care 12km and 4km distances, and invites people to enter on their own or as part of a team, pick a reason and then run, jog or walk their chosen course. From seasoned athletes to first-time runners, the 2014 HBF Run for a Reason hopes to see over 35,000 people take part with a goal of raising $1.5 million for charity.
