What guides us
For more than four decades, one thing has remained at the centre of Child Cancer Research Foundation: children and young people affected by cancer.
The world around them has changed. Research has transformed outcomes for many childhood cancers, more children are surviving, and we now understand much more about the long-term impacts cancer and its treatment can have.
Our Mission, Vision and Values guide how CCRF responds to those challenges, while keeping sight of why we exist in the first place.
Our Vision
A future where every child and young person affected by cancer has the opportunity to live a healthy, fulfilling life beyond cancer.
Our vision reaches beyond diagnosis and treatment.
We want better survival, but also better quality of life, wellbeing and opportunity for children and young people affected by cancer. It is a future where more children survive, treatments cause fewer lifelong consequences, and young people have every opportunity to build the lives they want beyond cancer.
Our Mission
CCRF improves outcomes for children and young people affected by cancer through research, support, advocacy and initiatives that address the lifelong impact of childhood cancer.
Research remains fundamental to our mission.
CCRF continues to fund childhood cancer research seeking better treatments and better outcomes. As more children survive many childhood cancers, we also recognise a growing responsibility to understand and respond to the challenges that can continue long after treatment ends.
Research, support and advocacy are not competing directions. They are different ways of pursuing the same goal: better outcomes and better lives for children and young people affected by cancer.
Our Values
Our values shape the decisions we make, the partnerships we build, the work we support and the way we engage with children, young people, families and the wider community.
Evidence-informed
Everything we do is grounded in research, outcomes and lived experience. We support what evidence shows is genuinely needed.
Long-term commitment
We recognise that the impacts of childhood cancer extend beyond treatment, and we are committed to improving outcomes over the long term.
Integrity
We are honest about what we know, what we fund and how we operate. Trust is earned through transparency and accountability.
Collaboration
We believe better outcomes are achieved through partnership, shared knowledge and collective action.
Lived experience
The voices of survivors, families and carers help shape how we understand challenges, identify needs and respond as an organisation.
Children and young people remain at the centre
Our work will continue to change as research advances, new needs emerge and our understanding of childhood cancer grows. What will not change is who that work is for.
Children and young people affected by cancer are at the centre of everything CCRF does.
Research. Support. Advocacy. Partnership. Whatever form our work takes, the purpose is the same: to help create better outcomes and better futures for children and young people affected by cancer.
